Re: Mail redirection error (and crash) in 1.1

I can't imagine that you cannot launch the mail app? Due to the way Apple sandboxes apps on the iPhone, individual apps cannot directly talk to or launch each other. The only way to launch another app is to use a URL (ex: mailto:email@address.net). Other applications can register as the 'handlers' ...

Re: My thingy for Instant Prowl/Growl notifications without a PC

since you mention forwarding port 23053 (which is the GNTP port) and your screen capture is on Windows, you should probably mention that the Growl portion refers to Growl for Windows only. since this is a forum for the original Growl, i would bet that close to 100% of readers here are running on a M...

Re: Notifications *really* slow today?

Anyone else seeing this, or is it just me? i am not getting an notifications at all now - they show up on the Prowl site and in the iPhone app, but i never get the alerts. i kept waiting, hoping they were just getting slower and slower, but it has been about 20 minutes and none of the 10 notificati...

Re: Prowl RSS Reader (And multiple API keys help!)

you cant just add multiple apikeys and have it work.

you could, however, loop through the apikeys and send a notification to Prowl for each. you will have to keep in mind api usage limits though (not sure if it is limited by ip address or by apikey).

"can't find host" message and prowl.weks.net not available

UPDATE: both the mobile website and the Prowl app seem to be back up now. from my desktop, i can access the prowl.weks.net site just fine. but from my ipod, i get "Safari cannot open the page because the server cannot be found." when i try to open the actual Prowl app, i get the message &q...

Re: Compatibility with Growl for Windows

i am struggling getting this to work, here's what i wrote on #growl @ freenode: couple of things to check: 1. UDP operates over port 9887, not 23052 (that is the TCP port that Growl forwards its Distributed Objects on), so make sure that port is reachable on your Mac from your PC 2. on your Mac, yo...

Re: Music Video + Stay on Screen (sticky) doesn't work

i think i read in another thread (couldnt find it again) that the Music Video display style uses a queue to display notifications (one after another) and as such, it does not support 'sticky'-ness since it would prevent other notifications from being shown until the 'stuck' one was dismissed. i coul...

Re: Compatibility with Growl for Windows

I have been unable to send notifications to a Mac from Growl for Windows. I was able to turn up some info from about a year ago that indicates that this may be because Growl for Mac does not yet support the newer GNTP protocol. Is this correct? If so, is there a plan to support it? Thanks. if you a...

Re: how to Prompt Notifications

Is the whole point of the program to just notify you when there is an update... yes. the application that you wish to get updates from might provide some means of 'Check now' function, but Growl's only job is to show the notifications. if no application tells it that there is a notification to show...

Re: iPhone Growl

I'm not sure about this, since the push notification API isn't public yet. (It certainly would require push notification.) If it's possible for any machine to talk to Apple's push-notification server, then this could work. The user's GrowlHelperApp would, at their option, forward notifications to A...

Enterprise Growl (or, Growl for Teams)

i have seen a few posts here and there and heard anecdotal stories of people (usually IT guys or the 'computer guy' in the group) who use (or want to use) Growl in a work environment to distribute notifications to employees/group members. usually they are asking things like "how can i broadcast...

Re: Growl for Windows - alpha now available

1. Is it possible to have the application launch on startup but not leave a window open? I have several users for whom this would simply be too much work >:o 2. Can notices be stacked on the PC rather than laying on top of each other? I compiled a new version that contains both of these fixes. you ...

Re: Growl for Windows - alpha now available

the current version of the code is still pretty much alpha, so most of the issues you asked about are not supported yet (see below for specifics). however, the code is open source (available at http://code.google.com/p/growl-for-windows/), so anyone can make fixes, add features etc. i havent had muc...

Re: Growl for Windows - alpha now available

I've updated SVN. Anyone SHOULD be able to do a checkout and build it now (at least in Debug mode). If you're upgrading it to VS2008 you may have to switch the configuration for it to work properly. There's also an initial, hacky fix for stacking standard alerts. I'm thinking we should either fork ...

Re: Growl for Windows - alpha now available

Well I got it to compile and run. I assume that some edits were made to WebKit.NET? I had to comment out some stuff that wasn't exposed... if you could upload your local copy of WebKit.NET that would be helpful... the webkit.net stuff is from another open source project (http://swift-wb.googlecode....

Re: Growl for Windows - alpha now available

If nobody can agree to cooperate, even if it "doesn't make sense" to have 2 projects for it, it's probably going to happen anyway. Natural selection will come into play at some point. i think that everyone is agreeing to cooperate, since having one version is better for everyone than havi...
