Re: Prowl updates sent to my email?

Problem is there are no twitter clients that will email you when a twitter user makes an update. The closest to instant updating possible is through prowl where Prey Fetcher will usually push a notification to my phone with minutes of when something is updated. In my business that information is ve...

Re: Feature Request: Repeat notification sounds

A persistent option in the API would be a pretty cool idea; I'm sure some Prey Fetcher uses would dig such an option. I know I would.

Re: Reading Prowl Log via browser?

Exposing that feature over the public HTTP API seems like a bad idea, as that user's entire history (or however much is stored -- I think it's ten days worth) would be available to whatever app you gave your key to. People get (presumably, somewhat private) IMs, download notifications, email, and Tw...

An update about Prey Fetcher: it's now open source (AGPL 3) -- the source is at http://github.com/tofumatt/Prey-Fetcher

Re: Massive Message Delays

I haven't noticed any delay in sending notifications, even when I accidentally sent a truckload (285) to myself this afternoon while doing some testing. We use Prowl to send urgent IT alerts, and over the weekend several extremely important messages went missing. Somewhat unrelated, but you might wa...

Re: Web Services/Plugins

Wrote a new Ruby library (using libcurl-multi) called FastProwl. Handy if you need to queue up batches of requests and send them concurrently.

It's available as a gem on Gemcutter or in source form on GitHub.

Re: Will there be a way for getting Prowl-API-keys for my users?

I've been thinking about this, but something like OAuth seems like a much better choice. It fixes both problems (not wanting users to give passwords to third parties, wanting to still have access) without hurting the other. Glad it's on your radar; currently the weirdest part of the signup flow for...

Re: Web Services/Plugins

I just wrote a script after someone on the forums suggested it: it monitors URLs and messages you when they go down. It's called FindTheProblems.

Re: Server monitoring/service with Prowl?

Heh, I read your thread a few hours ago... I just made something to do this. It's in Ruby, because I already like the ruby-prowl lib I'm using for Prey Fetcher. Anywho:

Re: Twitter notifications with Prey Fetcher

Another bug; when receiving 2 @notifications shortly after eachother, only one (the last one) is pushed to the iPhone. This is by design; Prey Fetcher checks Twitter every 5 minutes for new mentions / DMs; if you get more than one, it will display a count (eg. "3 new DMs"), along with the...

Looks like TwitterFon changed its name to Echofon. Might make sense to update the list.

Re: [Feature Request] Redirect to custom URL

I'm sort of weary of the implications of provider-supplied URLs (think how easy it would be to send people to spam, etc.), but I can say that I'd be a pretty killer feature for Prey Fetcher (select your iPhone Twitter app on the site and it would setup the redirect for you). I guess Safari would be ...

Feature Request/Idea: OAuth

Although getting the hang of the OAuth authentication steps is a bit more cumbersome than simply asking your users to paste an API key into a text field, the end-user experience is pretty awesome, and I think it instils trust in your users more than asking for they password/api key. Personally, I wo...

Re: Any example Twitter API -> Prowl code out there?

Prey Fetcher does this for you, albeit at five minutes intervals. Prey Fetcher is written in Rails, so the Prowl code behind Prey Fetcher is up at http://github.com/tofumatt/ruby-prowl. The code works quite well, and I think is pretty easy to use.

Re: Twitter notifications with Prey Fetcher

First off, thanks a bunch to the users that have signed up and especially those that have been letting me know about the hiccups the service has had. I'm glad this idea is as handy to you as it is for me. Secondly, thanks a bunch to Zac who posted links to Prey Fetcher not only from the API page but...

Re: Twitter notifications with Prey Fetcher

It updates every ten minutes, but Twitter's API has been returning capacity errors (the generic "Twitter is over capacity" error) for a lot of today when it polls, based on the log files. That said, it looks like there's a bit of an issue with some recent code. I'm tracking it down now o_O...

Twitter notifications with Prey Fetcher

Howdy there, Just letting everyone know I've launched a dinky little web app called Prey Fetcher that will monitor your Twitter account and send you Prowl notifications whenever you get new @mentions or DMs on Twitter. It's free (I basically built it for myself but figured I'd buils a web app around...

Re: Crash in 1.1 when changing preferences [FIXED in 1.1.5]

Also of note that the iPhone App Store seems to be aware of the updates well before iTunes on my Macs. I saw the update on my iPhone as soon as I opened up the App Store, but it hasn't made it to my Mac yet. I'm in Canada, for what it's worth.
