Re: New framework for private custom notifications from emails

Pull the latest code. The missing subject bug should be fixed.

Re: New framework for private custom notifications from emails

Ah yes, that's an oddity of the Google App Engine email parsing. I was regexing out that part of the body in the GVSMS parser, but that's no longer necessary if you pull the latest code from my github. NOTE: I've changed the classes around (MailRouter renamed to MessageRouter) since I've added exper...

Re: New framework for private custom notifications from emails

It does process the routes in order. So add a route with to='prowl@', then a route with '.*', and the second will catch everything the first missed. I didn't test the body substring enhancement before posting. This should work better (but still not tested): callback = lambda m: Prowl.add(application...

Re: New framework for private custom notifications from emails

When you get the hang of how it works you can tune this a bit more. If you change the route argument to `to = 'prowl@'` then only emails forwarded to prowl@your-app-id.appspotmail.com will be forwarded. If you set description=m.body[:100] in the callback, long messages will look better. But these tw...

Re: New framework for private custom notifications from emails

Sure. Your settings.py file should look something like below. Make sure to fill in your Prowl API key. This MailRouter has a single route that matches every email and calls the Prowl API with the event set to the email subject, and the description to the email body. -- from handlers import MailRoute...

Re: Web Services/Plugins

Hello, I've created a simple app/service/framework that you yourself can run on Google App Engine for free. Google App Engine can be configured to receive emails to `nobody@your-app-id.appspotmail.com`, and POST the message to a Python handler. The code provided takes this message and filters it bas...

Re: Filtered Email Notifications?

Take a look at this: http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=21944 If you set up a Google App Engine app based on this code, you can do exactly what you want. Forward your emails from Yahoo to `nobody@your-app-name.appspotmail.com`, then configure the routes to make a Prowl API call if...

Re: New framework for private custom notifications

A couple more notes... This works because appspot can receive an email to `nobody@your-app-id.appspotmail.com` and then POSTs it to a custom Python handler function. This handler parses the sender, to, subject and body and make a remote URL call when it matches all the rules. Since Google Voice send...

New framework for private custom notifications from emails

I'm a very happy Prowl customer. Prowl and Google Voice has allowed my to forgo an AT&T SMS plan for a while now. In return, I decided to share my strategy for creating these notifications with the community: http://github.com/nzoschke/gae-message-utils There are 3rd party services that offer th...
