That's why I love Adium. Now I don't feel left out. Just hope one day it'll support video.

iChat uses AIM and/or Jabber. The person on the other end does not need to be using iChat.

iChat supports Jabber. Jabber supports transports that act as gateways to the legacy protocols. Thus, through it's Jabber support, iChat supports AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and IRC (depending on the jabber server used). People have been using iChat with those services in that way since the day Tiger was rele...

Just out of curiosity, how easy would it be to write a plugin for iChat that would introduce support for MSN, Yahoo! et al via gaim or some other library? Rich:: iChat supports Jabber. Jabber supports transports that act as gateways to the legacy protocols. Thus, through it's Jabber support, iChat ...

Where is the built-in mic on my iBook?

It's that little hole to the right of your screen.
And my G3? and my G5?

Notice the "(excluding PowerMacs/Cubes)" part of what you quoted.

Screen sharing looks awesome, although I have to wonder about possible security implications.

Showing slideshows and keynote presentations is a nice idea as well.

Under the General tab in the Growl preference pane of System Preferences, you can check a box to sticky notifications after 30 seconds of inactivity.

It does.

Another time to use encryption is when you want to talk about something that you don't want in AOL's (or whoever's) server-side logs.

Your post is in the Adium forum, but it's actual content does not strongly indicate that you're actually talking about Adium. It seems rather broad and for all I know you might be posting in the wrong forum. So just to be clear, are you asking specifically about encrypting instant messages sent and ...

Re: Some Growl issues

First the minor one. The menu icon doesn't conform to the standard OS X method for reorganizing menu icons. You SHOULD be able to hold down the command key and click on the icon to change its position. With Growl icon this doesn't work. This is true for almost all third party menu extras. In order ...

Several days ago, The Tick said something about how Growl development is currently halted until after WWDC. They're waiting to see if Apple will be implementing something like Growl in Leopard, and if so they'll be updating Growl to simply redirect all Growl notifications to Apple's thing.
