Adium T-shirt Design "Contest"

Postby cbarrett » Mon Nov 13, 2006 6:24 pm

You may have noticed on the blog that I mentioned we're looking around for somewhere to print T-shirts. That's only half of the story.

Not only are we looking around for somewhere to print shirts, we're also looking for something to print on them!

This isn't an actual "contest", so feel free to submit as many designs as you want.

First, some ground rules:

 - Most printing techniques limit the number of colors to just a few -- even four is getting up there. So try and keep your color pallete small.

 - For the final procut, a high resolution image is a must, as is vector formatting. However, mockups in other formats are alright, as long as you're willing to create a high rez vector image later.

We're looking for, at this point, probably something simple, just a few words, or even no words at all.  Think of all the classic Adium slogans from the past: "Enter The Duck," etc. Go wild, but remember, this is gonna be on a T-shirt.

Have fun!

Also something to note, you can always use the color of the t-shirt as a last color, just leave it transparent on your design and presto!

I know this isn't a "t-shirt" but I think a black polo with the green embroidered Adiumy (a la the alligator) would be pretty sweet... Might make for a nice high end option based on where we end up getting these from and just how much it would really cost...

Just a thought.

Give us multiple colors, and I might buy two. :)

I really like the polo idea too though.

I too am partial to the polo shirt. I think one of the vendors does polo shirts.

I will contact them and ask about pricing, color and image format information.

Votes++ for the embroidered shirt. Maybe not the black though.

I would just love to see a t-shirt with a flapping Adiumy on the front and one of the Good old slogans on the back! (I have to run back to school, but I'll try to fix a muck up later.

I would definitely buy a an Adium T-shirt or a hoody but not a polo shirt. I don't like those.

A polo, regular shirt or hoodie are all fine with me but not if its white, white is a bad shirt color.

I know this might be very hard to see for most people, that way making it kind of odd, and they will probably not understand the slogan either... but anyway:

That would be even better in color.

^^But they said something about few colors... I mean does it include gradients then?

Anyway. I could look at later, but if I am to make it in colors I'll have to spend a lot more work to make even a decent mockup. But if it will work when it comes to the color limit I would be interested in giving it at try.

With most shirt printing techniques, gradients are difficult to do because you print in a series of one-color screens; each additional screen beyond the first carries with it increased cost per shirt. We're not limiting it to one screen necessarily (which would be a single color plus the shirt) but we don't want to try to sell $30 t-shirts, either :)
