There was a link to the Screen grab, not the desktop by itself, which is being requested.

For the lazy ones, who don't bother with google or taking wild guess, the site is http://www.mandolux.com/ and the picture is sinkbubbles - right monitor

They're a mixture of many different application icons, Skype, Yahoo! and so on.

locking icons on desktop

Postby daliscar55 » Tue Aug 08, 2006 1:59 pm

i see some very beautiful desktops here, i think its very important to have a customised desktop, especially if you spend as much time as i do on the damn computer. but i have and age old problem that i havent been able to solve. everytime i power down my mac all my icons, drives and windows revert back to their original position, in essence i cant lock them. i dont like them in their original position so i find myself re-arranging at each power up. can anyione suggest a way the icons can be locked?

thanks and i hope this post is in the right place!!!!

AFAIK Candybar doesnt change the position of icons. I don't understand why the icons revert to an unwanted position on startup though.

Maybe a preference or cache file has been deleted which doesn't enable the system to remember the icon positions. Just a wild guess

Might just be a View problem. You need to turn off "Sort by ___"; instead, Snap to Grid keeps positions, I think. Although, if you want them all to be horizontal, any new volumes other than the ones you set manually will be vertical to your boot volume.

My bad, I misread that. I often confuse the word "position" with the words "icon thumbnail".
