Vienna 3.1.0 has been released!

Postby josh64x2 » Mon Mar 14, 2016 8:54 am

Vienna 3.1.0 is out. It is a recommended update for all Vienna users. It requires OS X 10.8 or later.

Included changes :

- Added a search field in subscriptions tree for searching a feed
- Modern memory management (ARC)
- Modern frameworks for database queue management, JSON file parsing, XML parsing
- Some code refactoring
- New handling of articles cache

and many bug fixes  .

We continue working on more radical changes for upcoming versions.

Awesome, thanks for your hard work!

Question (and you knew someone was gonna ask :P ) - Is there a way to hide the folder filter search bar?

Haha, no there isn't a way to hide it yet but I'll work on it for 3.1.1 which I hope to release within the next week.

Good to hear, that Vienna is still alive. There are a couple of translation bugs in the german version and a system freeze on a mbp with retina display.

Question: Is there a solution to help with the german translation without installing Xcode and get the complete source code from github? Thanks for your answer.

The main entry point for checking this will be on github, isn't it?

Regards Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

Start by looking at the .strings files at https://github.com/ViennaRSS/vienna-rss ... j/de.lproj and https://github.com/ViennaRSS/vienna-rss ... s/de.lproj - you should be able to modify them with a normal text editor. Then I can rebuild any required xcode files on my own machine so you don't need to install it.

Thanks!
Josh

So I can seem to find any additional information about the JSON file parsing. Is there some documentation or pointers I can be following? I want to try and subscribe that instagram puts our there for users ( https://www.instagram.com/user/media ) and have it show up in Vienna like an RSS feed would. Any chance of me being able to do this?

Thanks

Hi, JSON is on my todo list but I don't have a time frame as yet. Is there a standard for JSON feeds? I haven't had a look but I imagine each site would have different keys.

No standard that I know of. I am just trying to find a solution for instagram no longer allowing third parties to generate RSS feeds for their content. Instagram provides the json files for every user by putting "media/" after their username. Here is an example:

Thanks!
