What this would solve:
• Text is loaded before the images. This causes a rejigging of the text as the image loads. That's annoying and means the user needs to refocus their attention.
• It makes quick scanning of the article more difficult as the text is pushed down the page and out of the viewport.
• It would load articles much faster.
• Most images are not important to the text and are just eye-candy. If one feels the image is important, a 'load images' contextual menu would suffice.
An RSS/Atom newsreader with features comparable to commercial newsreaders.
