pay for feature

Postby jupiejupe » Tue Jan 03, 2017 10:22 pm

I would like a feature added to the reader, I am willing to pay fair price for this feature. I need it asap.

I would like the reader to write out to file "Today's Articles" every thing that has been collected for the creating a new text file for each day. 170103 the file name would be for todays date.

Although I have nothing to do with the development of Vienna, I don't think it is the right tool for this. I think you're looking for something a bit more "scripty", if you'll forgive the term.

If you're using Vienna, you have both Perl and Python on your computer. Both of these will have modules for interpreting an OPML file, and fetching and parsing and RSS file.

Or, you could do something like Dr. Drang did: http://leancrew.com/all-this/2015/11/si ... ndication/ .

Or, get an account with some sort of web-based RSS service (I use FeedBin for this), and then consume their API on a daily basis. This has the advantage that you only need to run it once a day, instead of every few hours, to minimize the chance of missing something.

HTH,
Ricky

thanks for the advice but I am not a coder and have not idea what all of that is. do not get me wrong I have heard the words and know what they mean, but that is where I am left. I wish I could code but I can't.

how much would it be to set up something like that for me?

I don't know exactly what are your needs, but here is a possible workaround :
- make sure you don't have any filter set
- create/modify a smart folder
- select all articles in it (select one article, then Command A)
- choose menu item "Article ->Send Link by Email" (or type Command-Option-S)
- save your draft e-mail
I contribute to Vienna RSS as a developer.
Please, don't forget those tips for writing a good bug report

the issue with that is it only gives the title and the link not the body, which I need.

thanks for thinking outside the box.

Hey jupiejupe,

Some feeds don't contain all of the text for each article, does this apply to your feeds?
I help with Vienna development.
