What I did was stop my wireless network (so Mail wouldn't automatically go out to get messages), start Mail and then disable GrowlMail in Mail --> Preferences --> GrowlMail and unchecked Enable GrowlMail (I had to scroll to the right as the GrowlMail pane is hidden and I can't seem to widen the Preferences window)
I haven't gone back and restarted Growl for other applications, but at least Mail is working again.
Anyone know what the problem is?

DrMudd wrote:I have exactly the same problem. However, it did not occur since last Friday's security update. It rather started yesterday, after installing Safari Public Beta 4 with Foxmarks sync support. Ever since, Mail crashes when it tries to growl about new eMail. I disabled Foxmark in Growl, but to no avail. Will try the solution posted earlier (change the Growl settings in Mail prefs).

His solution is to disable GrowlMail.
