Changing fade-in time/speed

Postby MarkAllan » Thu Jul 30, 2009 9:03 am

Hi there. Is there a way to revert to the previous version's fade-in speed for growl notifications? Admittedly this is a very very minor niggle but the notifications now pop-up abruptly rather than appearing gradually. I find it much more jarring and less appealing.

I imagine it's related to this item in the release notes
Changed fade time for most visual displays from three-fourths of a second to one-fifth

No.

They still appear gradually, just much faster now.

No.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to get used to it then. Thanks anyway.
After starting this thread, I can see what's going to happen - I'll probably leave work, go home and start thinking my machine looks horribly slow because the notifications take longer to appear! ;)

That's right. However, the new speed looks just wrong for Bezels. OS X's own Bezels (for Volume or Brightness control) do fade in and out much slower. It would be great if this could be configurable for certain display styles.

mfichtner: Fair enough. https://bugs.launchpad.net/growl/+bug/412170

We still have no plans to make this configurable in the stock displays, although authors of third-party Cocoa-based displays can make it configurable if they want.
