no files listed on server side

Postby huna » Thu Apr 17, 2008 10:57 am

I've just installed Cyberduck on a Power PC G4 running OS 10.3.9 (Panther). I can establish a connection to our FTP server but Cyberduck shows no files on the FTP server. I can connect to the same FTP server from a Windows box and it displays 7 files in the folder.

I can upload a file from my Mac to the FTP server using Cyberduck. The transfer completes successfully according to the message displayed by Cyberduck but the file does not show on the FTP server. When I go to the Windows box and look, it is there. I suspect an incompatibility between the character set encodings being used by the server and client. Has anyone run into this problem and solved it?

Hi,
I have the same problem on a iMac iG5 running OS 10.4.11. However, I have installed Cyberduck on a iBook iG4 running OS 10.3.9 and it works fine.
I also tried installing other FTP programmes, but the same thing happens, there is a connection but the files and folders are not displayed!

I have exactly the same problem with one particular ftp server (which is also the only one on my list of around 30 which is running IIS) - running 10.5.2, cyberduck 2.8.5

Interestingly, Transmit does not display this error, an instead lists remote directory files correctly.

Any workaround for this would be great!

I have found out a way around this problem on my iG5 10.4.11 running Cyberduck Version 2.8.5 (3611) and not displaying the folders and files of the server.
I went to "system preferences" and selected the "sharing" icon. There I have allowed the FTP connection that was shut down by the OS firewall (Services and Firewall). I don't know whether this is your case as well or it is just me who haven't thought about it...good luck

Try using passive mode in Cyberduck for the FTP connection (instead of turning on FTP in your Sharing prefs). Passive mode FTP is a common way of getting around difficulties with firewalls.
