Need codec for avi?

Postby J0ker » Wed Aug 17, 2011 9:21 am

just tried to open an .avi file with QuickTime (Perian installed ofc), i just got "you need a codec for this file"
I thought Perian would allow me to play avi files with QuickTime.

I used Media Inspector, and found out that the codec used is XviD MPEG4. Isn't this supposed to be play-able with Perian?

Or am i missing something :?

I am no developer, but if you have Lion, then this is probably http://trac.perian.org/ticket/606 ?

You should still be able to play them in QT7. Or in QTX or iTunes if you set them to 32-bit bit and only if the files don't have subtitle tracks.
