Difficulty with GrowlMail

Running Mail 1.3.11 (v622/624) under OSX 10.3.9 on iBook G4 800MHz

Followed instructions -- quit Mail, double-clicked GrowlMail.pkg to install, re-started Mail after installer finished, went to Mail preferencess ... NO GROWLMAIL TAB!

I've re-booted with no discenable change.

Suggestions?

Is it shown in the program tab of Growl preferences (in system preferences) ?

Quit mail, and run these two commands from your terminal:

Code: Select all: defaults write com.apple.mail EnableBundles 1 defaults write com.apple.mail BundleCompatibilityVersion 2

OK, I've done that.

GrowlMail is now showing up under the Applications tab in Growl preferences, but...

Mail now consistently crashes before it finishes loading.

I notice that the second command you gave me is

Code: Select all: defaults write com.apple.mail BundleCompatibilityVersion 2

but I'm not using Mail 2, rather Mail 1.3.11. Could this have anything to do with my problem?

Nope.

ETA: just checked my download folders -- this was the first time I'd ever even downloaded any version of Growl.

Open up Console in /Applications/Utilities and see if it says anything.

I really appreciate your looking at this. Also, I do recognize that you need to sleep sometime too.
