Revision 1110 needs testing

To all Vienna developers out there: please test revision 1110 in the 2.2 branch as thoroughly as possible and report your experiences here (or on other known communication channels). The revision contains a change in our XML parser, which is a fundamental component of all subscription handling, so we need to ensure that we haven't broken anything. Thanks!

By the way, Steve, can you port the change to the 2.3 branch as well? That way the changes will get the greatest amount of testing.
