Message Styles

Postby hazmat » Mon Jun 20, 2005 8:33 pm

I'm sorry to sound like a loser here, but is there any kind soul who is really good at creating message styles who would consider creating a super simple one for me? Basically I want it to look like the one I use in Adium 1.x. Below is what it looks like. The colors here are not exactly what they are, but if someone could do this I could get the colors from my Adium 1 prefs.

Thanks so much.

Sure. I'll do it for you. Just post the colours and I'll get cracking.

NOTE: I'm not the best at making the fastest running and most beautiful code, so don't complain if my methods are slow and inefficient ;)

Awesome! Thanks! I'm not sure what form you want the colors, but here they are in web format colors:

The green for the username and timecode are what I said. The color is 66FF33

The text next to it, what I said, is 00FFFF

The other person's username and timecode are 3399FF , and their text is FFFF33

FWIW, these colors are only for display on my computer, not what's sent to the person. That's from the prefs from Adium 1.x. The background is black, and the font is Geneva.

Thank you so much again. Let me know if you need any other info.

Oh, btw, the neighborhood I live in in Brooklyn is called Kensington. :)

If you want to do a mod instead of a re-write, you might start with my style textonly, which looks (as far as layout goes) almost exactly like what he's after.

I wonder why Adium 2 doesn't allow a simple message config like 1 did, if you don't want to use any sort of mesage style. Or does it and I missed it?

I was happy with Adium 1, but I think it's time to move on (even if I hate the tabs on the bottom).

You don't have to use tabs if you don't want to...

Well that's the thing. There wasn't one I really liked. I would have like to have been able to simply tell Adium the colors, fonts, and line items I wanted, like in Adium 1. I am not really into styles and such. I hate the bubbles in iChat, for example. FWIW I don't use graphical smilies or sounds, either. :)

It can still be done, probably with more power than those weird draggy boxes ever had.

It's just not the weird draggy boxes. Sorry.

Can I have Adium not use a style at all and just use the colors and fonts I want for the text? Or does it have to be done by making a style?

It has to be a style, but I think you're overestimating what it takes to make a style.

The TextOnly one linked earlier is probably 20 lines of HTML and six lines of CSS, total.

Look at the complicated ones. Smooth Operator Beta + Scrolling is pretty advanced, I'll say.

Anyway, hazmat, would you still like that message style?

Well, yeah.

I'm just saying that the simple, text-only styles are simple, and he's talking about installing styles like it's a huge deal.
