GrowlMail will NOT uninstall

Postby trevorbsmith » Thu May 11, 2006 10:01 pm

Sorry, I'm at a loss to figure out how to remove GrowlMail. I installed it and found it is not something that is good for me so I selected it from the "Applications" page in my Growl preferences pane then clicked the "Remove" button. All seemed well. The item disappeared from the pane and I did not receive any more notifications when Mail received emails.

Until... I closed and restarted Mail. EVERY time I restart Mail, GrowlMail reinstalls itself too (and sets its checkbox to "enabled").

HELP! How do I force the damn thing to STAY removed?

All you are doing is removing the application ticket. For instance, if you were to click and remove Skype, this would not remove Skype.

Quit Apple Mail, then go to /Library/Mail and look in the MailBundles folder. Delete GrowlMail. This will remove GrowlMail.

Ah! Excellent, thanks. I should have looked around there.

So what is the official use of "removing an application ticket"?

I am having the same problem. However when I try to remove GrowMail from the ~/Library/Mail/Bundles folder it's not there. Yet GrowlMail keeps getting reinstalled (registered) after restarting Apple Mail. Only thing I find in that folder is Mail.appetizer.mailbundle which is for the Mail.appetizer app which I'm using instead of GrowlMail. I've searched my entire ~/Library folder for GrowlMail and the only thing I can find is the application ticket which gets Trashed when I remove GrowlMail from the Growl preferences pane.

It should be in /Library/Mail/Bundles not ~, like I said earlier in this thread.
