It's OK anyway, I realized the solution was to turn off displaying offline contacts altogether.

Is anyone interested in contributing to a bounty for implementing MSNP14 (personal messages, etc.) in libpurple? Apparently a lot of the code was written for GSoC2006, but it still needs to be audited and merged into the trunk.
