I'm getting this as well. I tried rebooting, deleting font caches, deleting Adium caches, starting with fresh Adium preferences (I did everything mentioned in the Troubleshooting sticky post). The behaviour is odd - everything is slow, but it does not hog CPU. In fact, I can't even see Adium in top ...

It's so annoying... in combination with virtual desktops it's so bad, a window opens "somewhere" on the bottom of everything on "some" desktop (I know it's the current desktop but I have 10 desktops full of stuff and constantly switch between...) I'd just like the window to open ...
