What is shown next to 'Handle' in the join chat dialogue before you join the chatroom? It displays "dan" in a light gray. While I had the dialog open I used it to connect to the chat room I regularly join. A quick test and it shows me correctly as "dan". This is very interesting...

When I'm in a jabber chatroom all message coming from me have my OS X user account name on them. I've tried setting an alias on the account and it has no effect. The most confusing part is Adium seem to hide this from me. Everything I see in the chat shows the alias I setup in the account settings. ...
