good point well made. So - the request is to have Growl have a voice per ..... where the application gets to fill in the per - what. The example I gave was Adium (also being a cocoaforge project) - but I guess, any app should be able to use the API... Thats the power of doing it with Growl, as oppos...

Sure - they an already use speech - but combining the effort should make a better - more reusable - result :-)
different voice per email address - etc...

I'd love to be able to set a different voice for each IM contact.... (ichatter used to do this, but is no longer available :-( ) I'd love a empty chat window to pop-up, and then be filled, when somebody starts typing.... (chat used to do this, before you got rid of Chat because it's so broken now-da...

Would it be possible to have an option that growl uses the default system speech options (I want to be able to set the speed, and volume, not just the voice. If growl could do that, it would be great, but at least using the system default would be "reasonable").

Just tried out the 1.1.3 beta, seems to work fine for leopard 5.2. I'd encourage its release.
