I upgraded to 1.3 beta (b2 - b3 doesn't make things better), and all of my contact aliases are gone. This is a disaster - without aliases I just have dozens of bizarre nicknames and no clue who is who. I will have to restore old data and maybe go back to an earlier, stabler version of Adium.
