It should be

cd /etc

and not

cd \etc

Load Terminal When loaded SU - (it will then ask you for root password) Then cd \etc Then pico hosts Then remove the crap lines at the bottom Thanks! This worked for me. Adium is working sweet now. Weird though, I didnt even add anything previously in the Hosts file. But all good anywayz. cheers!

Ive been having the same problem all day as well. I was on 1.2.4 and upgraded to 1.2.5, same problem. I tried deleted and reinstalling adium, same problem. I tried other MSN clients, they all can login, adium cant.

I'm using OSX 10.5.3.

Can anyone help?
