My friend is experiencing that problem in Taiwan (OS X 10.6.3, Adium 1.3.10., Traditional Chinese version).
I have it in Switzerland (OS X 10.5.8, Adium 1.4.17b, German version).

I sometimes experience the same problem even though i can not confirm that the buddies who are online already wouldn't see me when i log in and those logging in after me always would see me. for me, it seems random: some see me when some do not whether they were logged in before me or logged in afte...
