I am having the same issue with Perian 1.1.3 and QuickTime Pro Version 7.5.5 (249.13). I have an AVI file, with accompanying english SRT file in the same directory path, when I open the avi file no subtitles appear. Under Window> Show Movie Properties Menu there is no srt track.
