Well, after a long time, most of the icons are back. No idea what triggered them, some of the people I haven't talked to since before the problem, and their icons showed up right away.
Quite a few of the icons are still missing, so if anyone knows a real fix, I'd still appreciate it.

Same problem, but the fix didn't work.
I used to have the problems with old icons showing whenever I quit Adium and restarted the program. I did the fix above and now I have no icons...and they're not coming back when I talk to people. Well, I do have the icons of 4 seemingly random people that appeared pretty quickly after I did the fix...
