Re: Vienna 3 BETA released

Thanks, I'll check it out. Could easily have resulted from the date bug.

Re: Version 3.0.0 Beta 11 :9d8d6f6:

This bug may be the one causing the problems I was having as I'm running 10.8.3 as well. Dates not being converted consistently could easily create the effects I was seeing where RSS feeds would read and read items would come back and where the 'n' key had no effect.

Re: Vienna 3 BETA released

Thanks, I downgraded and it works fine. I have attached the OPML list which will reliably reproduce the problem on my machine. I couldn't add it on the GitHub issue report because they only take image file uploads. 1) Fire up 3.0b11 with no Vienna folder in ~/Library/Application Support/ 2) Delete e...

Re: Vienna 3 BETA released

Is there a place I can still download the last 2.6 version? The 3.0b11 version is completely unusable for me. It loses articles and can't keep track of which ones were read reliably. I don't have time to dig into the source to see what's causing it, and won't for a few weeks at least. I filed an iss...

Re: Probably Corruption with 3.0 DB

Ah, thanks for reminding me that 10.8.3 hides that folder.

Found messages.db in ~/Library/Application Support/Vienna/

Probably Corruption with 3.0 DB

I've got what appears to be a DB corruption problem with 3.0 beta, likely due to SQLite restart issues on my end, and not Vienna itself.

I've rebuilt it several times before, but the database doesn't appear to have the same name or location.

Any quick pointers on the name or location?

I've been investigating PostRank and working on another project. I'm still around. Getting ready to do another feature soon.

Re: Import Error from NewsLife

Sarah, I suggest adding the remaining feeds manually using the File > New Subscription command. I couldn't find anything wrong with the feeds you listed except the feed: <outline text="Blog and News" title="Blog and News" description="" type="RSS" version=&quo...

Re: Import Error from NewsLife

HI Sarah, Have you tried exporting just one or two feeds to see if you can isolate the problem? There may be a problem with one specific feed. If the first feed you try doesn't work, try two or three other ones one at a time to make sure it is not just a problem with that single feed. If you can't g...

Re: Vienna crashing

Doing a little (tiny actually) amount of digging. I think there's some serious problems with 10.6.3 for lots of apps and lots of people. Many people are reporting that Adobe CS3 apps don't work, including Photoshop. Also iMovie crashes. See: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2381734&...

What about Vienna or NNW made you switch?

Re: Feature Proposals - Post 2.5 Version

The code for Full Web Page Feeds is implemented and checked in. It has not yet been localized into languages other than english so you'll need to be running an English machine to see the change to the InfoWindow nib that I made.

Re: Feature Proposals - Post 2.5 Version

cheechi, I used to do exactly the same thing you do, i.e. sort by date descending (I thought this was the only way you could do it) and then use unread articles to go in date order using the up arrow key. But the ability to read articles in some more defined order seemed useful. I wanted to be able ...

Re: Feature Proposals - Post 2.5 Version

As I'm digging through the code for sorting, it becomes apparent that Vienna has a "feature" which I didn't anticipate that has caused me much confusion. In particular, it saves the ascending or descending order of the sort columns individually. What this means is that once you have set da...

Re: Binary Diff/Patch Files?

Thanks Michael and Alan. I'll check it out. Sounds like a good tool. I used TortoiseSVN on Windows along with Araxis Merge and was very happy with it. I hated Windows programming but the developer tools were pretty good. So glad to be working with a real framework again. With Cocoa, I just assume th...

How do you like Cornerstone? Did you check out Versions when you bought it? I'm trying to figure out what the good tools for Mac development are.

Thanks, I saw that code but couldn't find any references in the code for anyone listening to changes for those bindings. I didn't think about code in frameworks.

Version 2.6 and Beating NetNewsWire

I guess I'm a competitor at heart. I always like to win, or at least give it my best shot. I'm sure that many other developers here want to make sure that Vienna stays the best RSS/Atom feed reader on the planet. I want to do my part. I've been using Vienna for two years and now I want to help out. ...

Re: More feature requests

Your first feature is a good idea but the specific implementation strikes me as too narrow to be worth the effort to implement. It wouldn't be that much more difficult to do something much more general that might be much more useful to more a greater variety of users. For example, instead of having ...
