Problem was apparently related to Bluetooth; even though I wasn't using a headset for output, and all of my other system sounds played through the internal speakers as expected, I removed the BT headset I had configured and everything with Adium went back to normal.

I've run into the same problem with both 1.3.10 and 1.4b17 after upgrading to SL, how about enlightening us as to the solution?

I just upgraded to SL, and now sounds won't play in Adium and it takes approximately five seconds for messages to be sent or received; I assume some sort of timeout is happening, because if I disable sounds response time is immediate. These are all default sounds, I don't have any Xtras installed, a...
