Re: settings or feature request

Two potential causes: 1) Check you don't have a "Filter by: Today" set in the top right corner 2) Some feeds that post very frequently also have a limit of, say, 30 articles at most to display via RSS. Thus you'd only see the 30 most recent, which might be just for today and not the interv...

Re: How to install - rookie question?

Where are you downloading from? The dSYM packages is additional debug information, not the actual application.

Progressing from the main page and clicking the download button should take you to the file I mentioned above.

Re: How to install - rookie question?

Hi, I just rechecked the download now to confirm working okay. From the Vienna homepage (http://www.vienna-rss.org/), I clicked on the 'Download Vienna 3 Beta' button. It will download a file called Vienna3.0.0_rc1.tgz at present from hosting at Sourceforge, which when uncompressed will contain the ...

Yeh, it looks like your on-disk database that Vienna uses behind the seasons was corrupted somehow.

Re: Couple of requests

Personally, I find there's never a need to actually delete articles. For instance, I usually have Vienna setup with "Filter by: Unread articles" on most of the time. Thus is the case that articles disappear when (i) actually read, or (ii) when batch marked as read if I'm not interested in ...

Also, try disabling all your Firefox add-ins and adding them back one-by-one to see if any are the cause of the problem.

Re: Why isn't Vienna multithreaded?

Hi - yes this is a known issue and something we would like to address (time permitting). See here for the tracking bug on Github: https://github.com/ViennaRSS/vienna-rss/issues/250 Effectively this is because Vienna runs on one thread and thus network and database access (on the filesystem) block th...

Re: WebKit font Size Issue

Have you looked at "Preferences..." -> "Appearance", and does this do what you want?

Directly editing plist files is not best practice and may not always work as expected.

Re: Bug Report: multiple authors

That's actually quite a novel application. I ran your feed through an Atom feed validator, and but for some unrelated suggested changes, it is valid Atom code to have multiple authors on one "article" (which of maps in this specific domain usage to multiple authors of an ArVix paper). I su...

Re: Per-feed refresh schedules?

I understand the distraction impact of having extra updates, but the network traffic to your webserver should be pretty minimal from Vienna. If supported by the webserver, Vienna supports the following features: - If-Modified-Since HTTP headers - Gzip compression (we did quite a bit of work on this ...

Re: Vienna non responsive on refreshing

Hi denisk -- yes, this is an issue we are aware of. You're correct in identifying it as the main thread hosting both the network and filesystem access, whilst also running the UI (running the UI on the main thread is an Apple design requirement). There's an Issue on our Github which broadly tracks t...

To help, the site could include some extra metadata about the RSS link from its homepage.

It's not necessary or required though.

Re: conflict with osx mavericks

The reporter's issue is that Vienna is sometimes buggy after a Mavericks system comes out of standby. I've noticed this occasionally too, but mostly affects the Safari-based web browsing tabs, not the core Vienna article listing.

Je suis désolé, mon français est à la base et mauvais.

Re: Article list graphics bug

It looks like there's some line spacing characters in the title field (i.e. U+2028 e2 80 a8 LINE SEPARATOR). Vienna has a list of the common characters and encodings that can cause a new line or similar effect, which is what you are seeing here. It might be that Vienna is missing this one on its int...

Re: Vienna Crash Report

Hi, Took a look at the crash report, and it looks like the issue was deep within the Apple libraries (WebCore specifically). WebCore::CachedRawResource::willSendRequest(WebCore::ResourceRequest&, WebCore::ResourceResponse const&) I would put this one down to a transient one-off crash. I'm af...

Re: Why does this not work?

At a quick parse, it looks like the software which produces that RSS feed is badly malforming dates. See here for details: http://feedvalidator.org/check?url=http://www.iex.nl/rss/forum.aspx?id%3D1777 This may be the reason why subsequently published articles at later (actual) dates is not being pic...
