I restored both Application Support and Preferences files, and relaunched Vienna. After it refreshed my subscriptions, I ran Reindex Database just to be sure.
And then I did an export of my Subscriptions, so next time I can reload them if I do a clean re-install of Vienna

Well, I don't know -why-, but this seems to have fixed the problem. I removed ~/Library/Application Support/Vienna and then relaunched the application. It launched OK, but my subscriptions are gone. Nothing of interest in either location.
I'm suspecting a bad prefs file, but I don't want to naively just trash all the Vienna preferences, and lose my (rather extensive) list of subscriptions. Any suggestions on how to rescue subscriptions from the preferences files?
