Yes, scrolling causes it to update. Also, resizing the window causes it to update.

It occurred again, in Horizontal Layout. I changed to another folder and clicked some articles - no change, it still didn't update. I changed to Vertical Layout - that didn't fix it either. When I quit and restarted (in Vertical) it then worked fine. It seems to be something about Horizontal layout ...

I'm seeing this same issue. I believe I first saw it around RC2, and still see it in RC4. It seems to happen after my MBP goes into sleep mode with Vienna running, and then wakes up from sleep... after that, the Preview pane doesn't seem to update when I click stories, yet it marks the story as read...
