Indeed; it's this summer program run by Google, where they basically give coders summer jobs by paying them to work with developers of various projects (such as Gaim and Adium in the past). http://code.google.com/soc/ The great part is that some of the coders stay with the project and continue to co...

Could there be a bug in the new-version checker, such that Adium crashes for donkei when it tries to report a new version? That's the only possibility I see. Donkei, even if this is the case, it's a bug, not any kind of evil tactics by the Adium developers.

Dunno about the contact count in Dock icon, but as for the Growl alert, in the prefs, click on the Events pane, highlight the item in the list called "Contact goes offline" or similar, click the plus at the bottom, and there'll be a list of actions, including showing a Growl alert.

Yeah, at the time, the other thread had discussion of Adium on iPhone as well, but the topic seems to have moved on. My bad.

FYI, there's already discussion of this in this thread. You provided some additional information, so the threads could be merged perhaps.

You could try the latest beta (b19 as of right now) and see if it fixes your issue. I didn't find a mention of "ICQ" in the recent version history, but sometimes other protocol changes, or AIM fixes, can affect ICQ, since they're sort of the same network.

It should be noted that the Adium developers aren't averse to incorporating other protocol code besides libgaim into Adium, as evidenced by the inclusion of joscar in Adium 1.0; joscar will replace libgaim as the protocol used for the AIM network (libgaim will still power everything else, besides Bo...

PHP might be used for add-on message views or whatnot (I don't really know), but Adium is written in Objective C using Apple's Cocoa API, and some Carbon. The About Adium Trac/wiki page has a list of IM protocols and languages that Adium has been translated to. It also has the system requirements of...

The wiki found on Adium's Trac page has some of the info you're looking for, such as a list of contributors. Also, Adium is licensed under the GPL, not the LGPL as you have in your list.

He's asking if your iMac is an Intel one, and whether you're using the MSN service with Adium (as opposed to AIM, Yahoo!, etc.).

He needn't have asked about Intel, since all 24" iMacs are Intel, but what service you're using might be relevant.

On your...? And what OS are you running, and what version of Adium? Note that "reinstalling" Adium by redownloading it and deleting the old Adium.app usually doesn't do much; all of Adium's settings are kept in ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/. Try moving that folder out of its location (don...

To the people who say that Derf is being annoying and should listen to the developers, I disagree. I think his behavior has been fine. Can we at least wait until the developers do start getting a bunch of crap from people who've downloaded Derf's builds, before we jump down his throat saying it will...

Yeah, I agree that you should take down the "Don't worry, these builds are tested [etc.]" note, especially because the "your mileage may vary" basically contradicts the rest of it. Aside from that, nightly builds are not that rare of a thing. Popular open-source projects seem to have them a lot. And...

If you think mail.yahoo.com is a better URL to use than the current one, open a ticket about it. But if the developers disagree and it stays at the login.yahoo.com URL, then I'd check out the source code and build yourself a modified copy (if it's important enough to you) with the instructions in th...

Yeah, I assumed you already had the Adium source code, since you mentioned having made a change to something else, but sorry if I misunderstood. In any case, when you check out the Adium source, the folder is by default called "adium" though you can call it whatever you want. Within that "adium" fol...

Found it.

From your source code directory:

adium/Plugins/Gaim Service/Libgaim.framework/Headers/yahoo.h

As of Adium revision 17054, it's line 34:

Code: Select all

#define YAHOO_MAIL_URL "https://login.yahoo.com/config/login?.src=ym"

Try changing that to your URL of choice.

And make sure that the drop-down menu inside the search field is set to "Content," not "To," if you're searching for stuff within conversations you've had with people. Sometimes it defaults to "To."
