Done. Even logged out, and logged back into my user account. Restarted Growl. No change. "Mail" just doesn't show up in the Growl preference pane, and there's no Growl setting in the Mail.app preferences.

Same problem as the OP here, using OS X 10.3.9.

I followed all the hints in this thread, but there's no "Mail" entry in the Growl preferences, nor can I set up growl notification in Mail.app itself.

Other than the OP I have set German as the default language. Could this cause problems?
