This issue is clearly affecting a lot of users, including those not running Leopard. I'm getting more and more inclined to say this is an Adium fault and not an OS X or Microsoft problem.

And what if we're on a college network where we (obviously) don't have access to router configuration? Are we basically screwed?

If it's the case that Leopard is at fault, please explain why the official msn client will connect just fine. The MSN client probably uses a different mechanism for resolving addresses, or has built-in IPs hardcoded to connect to. It's definitely a Leopard issue that the hostname won't resolve. Oth...

I'm at Uni now (where I use a wired connection) and I've begun having this problem again. Adium simply never finishes connecting when it comes to my msn account. Changing the hosts file doesn't fix anything (and why would it if the official Messenger client can connect fine) so I don't think this is...

I'm also on Leopard but, for some reason, my problems seem to have disappeared. Everything's been working fine lately and I have no idea what's caused it. Oh well, can't complain I guess.

This started to happen a few weeks ago and I'm not sure why. Whenever I try to get Adium to sign into my MSN account, it just won't get anywhere (it forever tries to sign in but never does, as I can see from the dock icon). I can sign in just fine using Microsoft Messenger so there can't be anything...
