Re: Applescript problem

disclaimer: I don't know anthing about Adium. It sounds like the script is fine, if it runs in Script Editor. Perhaps it isn't being called by Adium. You can test this by adding a 'display dialog' command at the beginning of the script for debugging purposes. If no dialog pops up, then the script is...

You've tried to send a notification which isn't registered. i.e. try changing the 'notify' line to this: notify with name "My First Notification" title "hello" description "blalbla" application name "My Script Growl" icon of application "Finder" or a...

Basically, as far as I remember, 'advanced' is a separate script which uses Apple's Address Book app to look-up the picture of the sender of the email and use it as the image in the Growl notification. So - you should use only one: 'Advanced' if you want the picture of the sender in the notification...

Open the entourage script in script editor - and save it again. This should make it selectable.

Someone should probably change line 141 of AppController.m of HardwareGrowler: http://trac.growl.info/browser/trunk/Extras/HardwareGrowler/AppController.m Specifically to use NSWorkspace's method: - (NSString *)absolutePathForAppBundleWithIdentifier:(NSString *)bundleIdentifier Which...

Those logs aren't expected behaviour of HWGrowler - they are in fact Growl logging an error when trying to forward a notification over the network to a specific remote machine - and failing to reach it in time. 2007-03-08 15:33:13.709 GrowlHelperApp[258] Exception while forwarding dictionary with se...

I think you need to open the script in script editor - then save it again - for some reason that makes it work. Something to do with what SVN does to it possibly.

Anyone know what causes this?

I don't think he was being sarcastic. The trouble with measuring the time for things to become available after login is that several services and apps are starting at the same time. A more accurate way to test would be not to launch them at login, but wait for the rest of the system to settle down, ...

Make it visible again - then when it runs check out the preferences. There is a checkbox that turns off start-up notifications.

This is one reason why it doesn't come as an 'invisible' app.

No -- It's not possible to get Growl to run scripts - the usage of "on growlNotfiy()" there is an AppleScript 'routine' or user-made function - much like the "to fooBar()" syntax. In my opinion, ideally at some point (a long way) in the future Growl would have 'rules' which would allow you to do wha...

Growl's not really an automation system - just notifications.
