Try deleting the preferences file and restarting the app, it took me a few tries as well but eventually adium opened and reverted back to the standard GUI.

HUD mod breaks Adium (since Safari 5)
Hi I just upgraded to Safari 5, and now when I click on someones name in the contact list to start a chat with them, I get the spinning wheel for a few seconds and then the app crashes. Is anyone else experiencing this? Also the version of Adium I'm running is 1.3.10 on a macbook core duo OSX 10.6.3...

Yeah Im having the same problem as well, Im running a MacBook Core Duo 2.0ghz with 2gb ram, 10.4.9 with all the updates, im interested in testing a 1.01 build to see if it fixes the problem, im not really that experienced in creating builds so if someone could send me a link to download a pre-compil...
