I miss it as well - having the contact list and your background appear on demand at the same time was the cool part of showing off Adium and OSX together. A side docked contact list seems so typical and boring.

I disagree - the users are not actually online. The mobile status appears when the user goes from online to offline, so you can send messages to their cell phone - they're actually not signed online (MSN for me anyways). I tried to get rid of the status symbols too. While sorting them to the bottom ...
