Yeah, currently my Adium is using 0% CPU. And is at that level for 95% of the time.

I have absolutely no problem building Adium from source in 10.4 using SVN per the instructions on the site.

IE problem, which was a problem with the old site in general. But because Explorer blows (and doesn't work in 10.4), it was never really a concern

No, this wouldn't be possible through scripting (not without one uuuuuuugly script...). I don't see it happening in Adium anytime soon, either, as it just seems like a fair amount of bloat.

However, you could open an IM with yourself, and all of the status changes should be logged.

There used to be talk of MSN only retrieving buddy icons once you started a conversation with them. I have no idea if this still applies.

I would definitely attribute it to Desktop manager.
