It is a wee bit startling this wasn't thought of (in general you seem to think of everything) but perhaps we could identify mobile contacts by a seperate color? :P It WAS thought of :-P But you didn't think of the fact that more colours equate to a continuously more gaudy and horrifically coloured ...

It is in .8, but it's been so long since I used Adium .7 that I can't remember if it is then. Either way, you will be happy to know it exists in .8 (Which is currently in the Release Candidate stage - beta.adiumx.com )

It's not there, no worries. But you can set the window to not appear while you're in the background if it bothers you (In the advanced pane under messages).

The problem with this is that case can change by the user's will. By logging in all lower-case, Adium is guaranteed to match with it every time the user changes their casing.

Unfortunately, gmail has nothing to do with IMing, and is bloatware. Not to mention, there is a gmail checker for Konfabulator, Dashboard, and I'm sure someone can write something specifically for growl if they really felt like.

Adium isn't the place for it.

If there are no routers or firewalls in the way, it works perfectly fine. Within my college campus, for example, tends to work well. Transfers from others behind routers never work.

The problem with this is that the formatting HTML or other code used to make the colours and fonts of your profile appear on other computers take up additional room and aren't added until a message is sent.
