Thank you drmoque! That is indeed the fix and it worked for me. Same thing happened on the upgrade from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3, so I thought it was corrupted prefs. After deleting them and setting up Adium from scratch again, it wasn't a process I wanted to repeat. Incidentally, for anyone else reading this...
