I've been tackling the Gaim Service translations, and I have some questions. Since I'm haven't encountered these strings, I didn't know in which context they existed or what technologies the strings refered to. Ooh right. I've had a go at quite a lot of the "other" files too, including th...
Only in the sense that you're expecting the Localizable.strings file to be editable... the application isn't too concerned because it expects that if you're using Localization Manager at all it's what you're using for all translations of strings. Yeah, fair point. And, to be honest, I suppose the ....
I've filed a request for them to be written in unicode, but I'm not even sure _how_ to write it as such... writing it out in the unicode encoding performs that escaping apparently. That is weird. The only wisdom I can lend to it is that the escaping looks like something I used to see in HTML files....
I had the same problem, and it was the reason I rolled my own translation originally. I'd almost label it a Localizer bug - that it insists on escaping every character so that it becomes essentially uneditable - really it ought to generate files with normally encoded characters in the standard encod...
Some (most, perhaps) of these stem from inconsistencies in and weaknesses of the original English... In the File menu, we have 新規チャット (New Chat), but the message box that comes up is entitled New Message, as yet untranslated, presumably as it has not yet had the necessary code modifications applied....
Which (English) string is possibly having an improper code-side addition of "…"? Got it - at last! I was hacking around with this for a while, but I see what's going on now. The Localization.strings file has only one entry for "Configure Status Sort". That string is used for the...
Shouldn't that be the 詳細 pane? Pretty much every Mac application uses 詳細 for advanced options. I agree with you on that one - I was merely quoting what dokada has translated it as. That said, I am sure I have seen アドバンス before. Ironically, there's a localization error in the Japanese localization. ...
Speaking frankly, I prefer 履歴。:D That said, I also have a feeling my Japanese friend didn't know what ログ was. And as to other clients, Mac MSN and Yahoo! JAPAN Messenger both use 履歴 - I am not sure what others do. In any event, with the above in mind, I would incline towards 履歴 over ログ。 As to minima...
to macyu Thanks for your corrections, but as you note, I have been superceded anyway! :P to dokada >We were having some difficulties updating the localization files for Japanese recently so it may not have happened yet (at least I haven't seen it integrated yet)... It's in SVN, but I suppose it has...
Make it all formal or informal! Yeah, I know. :D Cheers, though. I did say earlier on that there were bits that would make you go "Argh." :P I was aware that there were issues like that and I was working through to resolve them. As dokada says, there are times when we want formal and time...
I just need to know which file should be in svn.. the 'complete' one with some debated strings, or the incomplete one Daisuke did. I'll defer to Daisuke on this one. Just to let you know, I have made a few more minor modifications to the file - corrections - so if you are going to put my one into t...
I can't come up with a good or even halfway good way to merge them... Sorry :( Yeah, about that - what is this loc file that I need for localising? I can't find it anywhere in the source tree. Am I being incredibly stupid? As I mentioned before, I made my localisation by just directly editing the s...
Time differences are starting to come into play - I have been asleep - and I awake to see that much has happened! I'm away for a few days now for Easter holidays, but should be checking this board and e-mail every now and then for updates, etc. to evan: Hope you'll see this - if you can merge the fi...
Hello. Next time I post I shall be more careful about my choice of words. "Slightly odd direction" was perhaps a little harsher than I had intended. In any case, I should explain myself... The bone of contention was " tomodachi " for "Contact". I note that Yahoo! Messen...
And I totally understand your stance on putting a new strings file just like that. Who knows what slights against your good name I may have put in there!
I posted this in the long beta thread a little while back and think it may have been overlooked... I've got a pretty complete (within the limits of the current English Localisation.plist) Japanese translation here, started after the inclusion of a Japanese translation in SVN which seemed, in my opin...
