No. Growl doesn't arbitrarily query data sources and do things, it simply displays notifications. That said, you could write a script (shell, AppleScript, Python, Perl, etc.) to do so or a full app. But there needs to be 'something' doing what you want and then informing Growl. Growl itself will not...

There are no mirrors, it is not meant to be widely distributed.

Growl doesn't know when an application needs an update and doesn't inform you of that unless the application explicitly does so. If an application isn't automatically added then it doesn't support Growl and you'll need to contact the developers to request they add support.

It was a good move on their part - 1.1.2's GrowlMail causes crashes which are problematic for Mail, and it's unsupported by both us and them.

When launching the application, you'll immediately receive a prompt that indicates that this application has been registered with Growl. So, the registering process is automatic Indeed, the process is automatic. It's also transparent as we removed the 'App Registered' notification that was present ...

Seems to be a problem with the icon vendor to Growl, not the display style or Growl itself.

So does it vibrate to let you know to wake up? :D If the screen's dim and the sound's off what exactly is the output of the alarm?

There are no maintainers for it so it is no longer distributed and as you noted the prior version continues to work for those who need[ed] it.

I don't see us adding such a narrowly targeted feature. Is there some reason you don't just use sleep to accomplish the quit/stop scenario for your entire OS?

Likely not long, but patience is a virtue and we (the Growl team) do not provide ETAs.

Volume up/down Screen brightness on my MBP dont affect my framerates, not sure whats causing it, but when you drop frames in arena its usually good game, the frame issue is definitely related to the fading of the message as opposed to the appearance of the message. Which simply illustrates my point...

This is the exact reason I and several friends of mine no longer use growl on our macs, this fade effect makes World of Warcraft stutter and drop frames when running GLFaster 2 option both on my Macbook Pro and my Mac Pro with 8800 GT. Not exactly an optimal use case. I don't have WoW installed any...

You likely are not copying Growl.framework into your application's Frameworks directory and linking against that, thus the complaint.

It seems like it would be redundant to me. Sticky notifications would require you to travel to both displays to close them. In addition, your focus would be split because you have a notification animating in on multiple displays, causing you to look to each instinctually.

iTunes needs GrowlTunes or another app to do so for it, I believe Firefox also requires an extension. The other apps should register when they launch with Growl unless they require some custom configuration to do so (Transmit and Transmission do not AFAIK)

The more knobs we expose, the more complex and 'scary' we make the product for users. There has to be a definite gain for the majority of users in adding a preference before we would do so. Implicit animations are part and parcel of Growl notifications' display and the option would be to write your ...

Question 1: I believe this is likely due to how OmniFocus is adding their notifications to Growl, but I could be wrong. Question 2: Only if you have specified that it should be sticky, which is the terminology Growl uses for notifications that hang around. This is done in the Applications tab per no...
