Except about the fact that this will give the developers quite some work, I do agree with this

If you hit command-y, the Custom Status dialog appears. There you can check "Appear idle immediately" and then you can enter the number of hours and minutes you want to be set idle

It seems that Adium parses the CR / LF / CRLF in themes wrong: as I already asked for help here , it seems that Adium inserts a <br> everytime the CR character is used in a message theme.
