Personally i use command-shift-arrows to switch tabs in all my applications. Feels more natural.

Why not just connect one account at a time then? Its pretty simple.. Just start up Adium while holding down shift, and then select the accounts you want online in the File-menu.

Just make a new group (Contact --> Add group) and then move the users from different accounts to specific groups. Then theres no need to clone Adium.

If you remove your password in the Accounts preferencespane, it asks for a password for that user, each time you start Adium.

And if you want different users in Adium, you can hold down the Alt-button when starting up Adium. This gives an option of having several users.

Apple had a mpeg-2 codec you could buy some years back. Don't know if it is still possible.
