Growl 1.1.6
Please try 1.2b3. If that crashes, please post a crash log from that.

And everybody: Please post crash log files, as attachments. They're much easier for us to work with.

Did you accidentally delete part of your post? What's left doesn't make sense; it seems out of context.

Re: 1.2b3 crash

OK. Did you run the GrowlMail uninstaller before installing 1.2b3?

If not, do that now, and then install 1.2b3 again.

Re: 1.2b3 crash

That's… strange. It looks like one of our methods ended up under two names, so that the method called itself recursively.

Do you have any other Mail bundles installed?

Re: 1.2b3 crash

Please post your most recent Mail crash log.

On Snow Leopard, the crash logs are in this folder:
  • Your Home folder
    • Library
      • Logs
        • DiagnosticReports
On Leopard, they're in this folder:
  • Your Home folder
    • Library
      • Logs
        • CrashReporter

Yup. That fix will be in 1.2b3, just as soon as I can bend Installer to my will.

Re: System Lock During Growl Mail

I tried a System Trace with Shark, but it's hard to time when the lock happens. One way would be to write up an email to yourself, hit Send, and then immediately hit Option-Esc (assuming Shark is running in the background) to start the trace. When you say to "send us the trace", I'm not f...

Re: Can't install Growl from network home directory on SL

General Installer-package fixage. The only fix in b2 and half (so far) of the fixes in b3 are attempts to counteract PackageMaker bugs.

Re: Can't install Growl from network home directory on SL

Try Installer's Installer Log window, set to full detail.

If that is the full-detail Installer log, then you'll just have to wait for 1.2b3, which we'll release as soon as I convince PackageMaker to do my bidding.

Re: System Lock During Growl Mail

If you have the Developer Tools installed, try doing a System Trace in Shark or running Sampler in Instruments, either way while Mail is doing its thing and locking up your system. Then, please send us the trace (whether from Shark or Instruments).

Re: Some precisions about scripts - stick & click

1) How can we set the notification as sticky? One way is to specify that parameter to the notify command. (Even though I tell growl to "Stay on Screen" = Always) That's the other way. 2) How can we set an action if the notif is clicked? You can't. That feature isn't available through the ...

Re: How can I change the Bezel Notification to "sticky"

Yeah, all the big styles show only one notification at a time, and any display that only shows one notification at a time isn't a good one to have sticky support in.

Yes, we do plan to replace the uninstaller with a universal-binary version. In the meantime, you should be able to open it in AppleScript Editor and run it that way.

Bezel doesn't support sticky because you may have other notifications waiting to be displayed in it. Imagine having to click Bezel once each for 50 missed calls.

Re: Notification location & style...

Sorry; lost track of this one. Yes it is. Where? I'm not sure. Blame the evil twins of Installer and PackageMaker: PackageMaker in Snow Leopard forces the Relocation option to be on for applications (such as the application that runs in the background to display Growl notifications and contains all ...

Re: Authorize registrations?

I went to the next best solution I could find, which was disabling them; however my worry is that since the application detects Growl it might substitute a standard notification since it assumes Growl could just display it. It's definitely possible for an application to lie to Growl; in fact, growl...

Re: Authorize registrations?

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember in past versions of Growl that an application required authorization before being able to post notifications. No, Growl has never had such a feature. I love Growl and want to keep it useful, which to me is only having five or so apps registered. Currently, w...
