Re: Firefox .growlRegDict
Normally, those entries only appear because an application LSOpened them (basically, like opening the file in the Finder) and didn't set the kLSLaunchDontAddToRecents flag. In the case of .growlRegDict files, “an application” is the app that's registering: It creates the .growlRegDict file, then ope...

Re: Howl - A New Growl App for iPhone
The similarities are obvious, to the point that it alarmed me at first, but if you hold up the two prefpanes next to each other, there are plenty of differences, too—in features, in layout, and in wording.
I'm not so sure this is a rip-off.

Re: Hardware Growler trouble...
… when I plug or unplug the ac power cable, the growl notification does not fade away. Ever. I have to manually close it out. What version number does Growl show in the About tab of its preference pane in System Preferences? Have you tried any other applications? If so, is it specific to HardwareGr...

Re: how to un-install growlmail plug-in???
We haven't released a beta yet. If you're talking about the pre-beta build, it installs to the same place as 1.1.6, so it should have paved over the older version.

Re: Growl Not Displaying Any Applications
I'm using Snow Leopard and Growl 1.2. I believe you mean “1.2b1 pre-release 1”, which is the only 1.2-series distribution that exists from an official Growl source outside of the source repositories. 1.2 final does not exist yet. Growl is running, I'm receiving notifications, but they're not in the...

Re: How can I get growl.framework
Growl.framework is on the SDK disk image you can download from the Growl website. And you should not put it into Library/Frameworks.

Then it's almost certainly a Firefox problem.Homer11853 wrote:This only happens with Firefox.

Known problem. We're not sure what causes it, although my bet would be something in Firefox.Homer11853 wrote:The other funny thing is that with Growl turned on, when Firefox starts it's not the active window (all the menus are dimmed etc).

You might try making sure Vuze runs in 32-bit mode. Get Info on it in the Finder. It may be that they enabled it for 64-bit but Ribbit is still 32-bit-only.

Re: Growlhelperapp not responding on startup
I have a problem with "growlhelperapp not responding" in Activity Monitor at startup (computer startup). It last for 2 or 3 minutes then everything is fine. Please take a sample of GrowlHelperApp while it is hung, then post that sample here. You'll use Activity Monitor's Sample Process co...

Re: Ribbit plugin in Snow Leopard not working
Growl itself works fine in Snow Leopard (except that the prefpane is a bit of a hassle, still being 32-bit-only in 1.1.x), so I'm going to guess it's Ribbit.d00by wrote:Is this due to Ribbit or Growl or BOTH?

Re: clear latest notification
The set of modifiers will certainly not be option alone. Option-q, for example, is œ—presumably not a frequently-used character, but it still wouldn't be right for us to block it completely. Control makes a bit more sense, as you would then be adding option to mean all instead of just one (a well-es...

Re: What do I have to do to get ready for Snow Leopard?
It seems to work. It's just not a 64-bit systems preferences pane. That's part of what we're working on. More significantly, several other things in the Growl distribution do not work on Snow Leopard. Everything should be compatible with Snow Leopard in 1.2, which we're working to have out on Frida...

Re: Switch to app after clicking on a msg sent from growlnotify
The -w option is sufficient for my needs as far as I can tell, since I use a sticky notification, which is only dismissed when clicked on afaik. Correct as long as the notification goes to a visual display. Non-visual displays have no concept of sticky, or of being clicked on. Btw, -w on growlnotif...

Re: Switch to app after clicking on a msg sent from growlnotify
I notice that in the Growl Preference Pane there is a checkbox labelled "Inform growlnotify when a notification is clicked". Every application gets that checkbox. It's not specific to growlnotify; there are no special cases to either force it to be present or to omit it. What does that do...

GrowlMail 1.1.5 contains several crash fixes. You certainly should update, and make sure you also update GrowlMail.emfarrell wrote:I currently have Growl 1.1.4 so might try updating…
And if it still crashes with GrowlMail 1.1.6, please post those crash logs here. (You will need to zip them up first.)
