Re: Growl stopped working completely
I went through and deleted … any 'non-essential' mac pref panels. Er. The ones that come with Mac OS X? Deleting parts of the OS, including the prefpanes, will almost certainly cause trouble, either now or in the future. One very likely problem will occur when you install an OS update that affects ...

Re: Problems with Growl, suddenly
OK, thanks, I guess I'll get 1.1.6 and try again (minus the Mail part, which isn't really essential, and I shouldn't burden that app with any other tricks until I get around to deleting some of my you-don't-want-to-know-how-many messages). GrowlMail underwent serious fixage in 1.1.5, as you can see...

Re: Problems with Growl, suddenly
What I'm looking for here is some indication whether my PowerPC (non-Intel) Mac is falling too far behind the Growl curve and needs to remain with an older version, or whether maybe the new version exhibited some bug with PPC Macs that has been fixed or has a workaround. There are no known bugs in ...

Re: Growl stopped working completely
It might be easier to manually delete preferences files instead of manually copying them (and everything else) over. Make a back-up first, of course.

Growl 1.1.6 works just fine for us. If you have a specific problem with it, let us know.

Re: Growl stopped working completely
Quick question - aren't the 2009 macbook pro's 64-bit (or do I need to wait for snow leopard to activate that part)? All Core 2 Duo Macs are 64-bit. Also, tried restarting and re installing both of the versions you sent. I have attached the two most recent crash logs. I must be slipping; I forgot t...

Re: Growl stopped working completely
Sounds like you have a 32-bit-only Mac. Sorry about that; I forgot that we changed the project for 1.2 to only build for PowerPC and 64-bit Intel in the Debug configuration. Here's a fresh build, this time based on actual 1.1.6 sources (yay, less confounding!) with the Release configuration. That me...

Re: Growl stopped working completely
Here's a debug build. After you unzip the archive, please double-click on the prefpane (you can leave the dSYM bundle where it is) to install it, then try whatever you did to make System Preferences crash.

Re: Growl stopped working completely
'Crash' must have been too strong a work because there is no log of the problem. Make sure you're looking in the Library in your Home folder and not the Library at the root of your startup disk. I just opened the pref panel again and 'cut' the text of the problem report that it will let me send to ...

Re: Script to tell me when screensaver is deactivated
Write a script that posts a notification unconditionally, then put that script into the login items on each family member's account. Then, instead of activating the screen saver, open the login window (an option in the Fast User Switch menu) or log out. If you don't all have your own accounts, you s...

You can do this with Mac OS X's Folder Actions feature.

Re: hide/unhide growls
If someone walks in to my cube, I would like to hide my growls, since some of them may be personal IMs/Emails. Since I have not responded to these IMs/Emails I don't want the notifications to just go away. Also, any new notifications that come up during these period are still important to me, excep...

Re: Feature Request: Max number of notifications
… it would be great to be able to set a maximum number of notifications to be on-screen at once, or alternatively, a maximum number of notifications per minute on a per application basis. Indeed. Filed. On a side note, could we have a preference option in Growl Mail which disables notifications if ...

Re: Feature Request - Disable Notification when App Running
We're not going to do that, for two reasons:
- Not all displays are visual.
- Those applications, and pretty much any others that the user might add to such a list, are not necessarily running full-screen.

Re: Growl stopped working completely
Then the applications are not talking to Growl. And yet you say you're able to preview the displays? Strange.
