Re: GrowlMail showing body of mail messages
defaults write com.apple.mail GMSummaryMode -int 2 Now that the Growl beta's out that's supposed to fix this problem, I've reinstalled GrowlMail, but I can't get it to stop showing the body of mail messages. I talk about the workaround because that's when it started showing the body of the messages...

The default display does this automatically. I think most of them do.Chris Cairns wrote:Is it possible to increase the size of the Growl notification? Can it adjust its size according to the amount of text that is in the clipping?

Re: Growl message not staying on screen
Basically anything like music video or bezel where it's a single window, in the same place, every time there is a notification, is queue based. Right. If you only ever get one notification window at a time, that's a queue-based display. Most displays, including the default, show multiple notificati...

Which applications are you expecting to notify?keeprunning wrote:I'm running 10.5.6 and Growl 1.1.4, and growl has mostly stopped pushing out updates.
Also, open the Growl preference pane in System Preferences. Does it say “Growl is running” or “Growl is stopped”?

Re: iPhone Growl
… there is one big catch: the sender must authenticate the connection using the developer certificate issued by Apple. i think that would mean that in order for an end-user's machine to send the notifications directly (without going through an intermediary), the Growl team's certificate would have ...

Re: iPhone Growl
Growl for iPhone is doable. It would require a hosted service. I'm not sure about this, since the push notification API isn't public yet. (It certainly would require push notification.) If it's possible for any machine to talk to Apple's push-notification server, then this could work. The user's Gr...

Re: GrowlMail causing Mail to crash (repeatedly)
Is this beta supposed to fix the problem whereby Mail (under Leopard 10.5x) would basically freeze for 20-30 seconds periodically. First I've heard of it, so no. Please take a sample of Mail while it is hung. Open the Applications folder. Open the Utilities folder in that folder. Open the Activity ...

Re: Change default notification sounds?
All this plug in [for Thunderbird] does is tell me that new mail has arrived after I open Thunderbird - which seems a bit pointless, as after opening Thunderbird I immediately know new mail has arrived anyway. Yeah, applications can't do anything unless they're running, and that includes post Growl...

The pop-up menu in Growl doesn't, but the pop-up menu in Mail does.jebus197 wrote:Yeah, but that doesn't let me chose my own notification sounds - it only allows me to select from a list of default notifications. I can't for example select 'other' to play an MP3 or Wav file of my own.

Re: Change default notification sounds?
I would like to change the growl notification sound. Growl does not use one sound for all notifications; you set this per notification. All I want to do is change the default 'new mail' notification sound to a wav file saying 'you've got mail.' How can I do this? If you're talking about Apple Mail,...

Re: Sounds w/o "play user interface sound effects"?
Have you not yet decided about Tiger support in 1.2? I want to drop Tiger in the very next feature release, and that's 1.2. Chris asked about it on the list yesterday, and I replied saying that I want it to happen in 1.2, and nobody's replied to rebut me, so I think we can call it a firm plan now. ...

Nope. It does not ask for admin. password with GrowlMail install. That's why, then. Strange. I've filed it ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/growl/+bug/363459 ) and will look into it. In the meantime, try using Pacifist ( http://charlessoft.com/ ). You mentioned that GrowlMail was not working for all us...

Re: Sounds w/o "play user interface sound effects"?
Just wondered why it's not seen as much of a priority? There are three things against it: First off, it's in the partially-broken-functionality category. This is a very low tier: Security vulnerabilities and data loss Crashes and permanent hangs Broken functionality Transient hangs (e.g., hangs for...

I dont know what Rosetta is. The PowerPC emulator for running PowerPC code on an Intel Mac. The PowerPC and Intel architectures have different byte orders, and Mac OS X includes a feature called Core Endian that will swap between them automatically for certain resource types. One of these is 'drag'...
