Re: growlnotify: option --image not working in v1.1.3
What we need is a specific growlnotify command that can reproduce the problem 100% of the time. Please copy such a command from your terminal and paste it here. (And use growlnotify --version first to make sure you are running growlnotify 1.1.4.) We need this because I, for one, cannot reproduce thi...

Re: growlnotify: option --image not working in v1.1.3
The same for me : Mar 1 02:04:32 Mac-Mini growlnotify[58417]: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[NSURL initFileURLWithPath:]: nil string parameter' It looks like you're using --appIcon, not --image. Re: redirect rsync output to growlnotify in shell script
I tried using your method of piping the output of the rsync command directly to growlnotify but I didn't end up getting any growl notifications until the rsync command was completed. I assume that growlnotify was waiting for an EOF or Control-D command… EOF, yes. Ctrl-D is a signal to the TTY to en...

Re: mail and growl
It is way over notifying me about my mail usage. When I create a draft, send mail, etc. etc. I just want to see incoming mail and events. Ever solve this problem? First, make sure you have the latest GrowlMail installed. Updating Growl does not update GrowlMail—you need to update GrowlMail yourself...

Re: mail and growl
My Mac1st shows the whole msgs, only those that really came to my mailbox and also there are small icons like x (close), v (read) etc. GrowlMail does not provide such icons and Growl does not support them (notifications are currently plain-text only and will never have buttons). Those notifications...

Re: Growl hasn't worked for me since Leopard (Apps list empty)
I know that Growl compatible apps have special bundles in them. Not really. Just a framework and an optional (but highly recommended) plist file. The app uses the framework to post notifications and (if it doesn't have the plist) to register; Growl uses the plist (if the app has it) to register it ...

Re: Hook into growl events
I've been looking at the develop docs to see if there's a way to intercept an event sent from a Growl-registered application to Growl, upon which Grown executes your own handler. Nope. You could write a plug-in, but we don't provide any plug-in hooks for this. Feel free to file a request in our bug...

Re: Logging Messages with Growl
In the forums, I found reference to typing this in Terminal: "defaults write com.Growl.GrowlHelperApp GrowlLoggingEnabled -int 1", so I did so. There are some other prefs you need to set for that to work. Where does this log file save to? That's one of them. Or does this no longer work at...

Re: Feature request - Same style, but different color?
Some displays, such as Smoke, let you change the background color by priority. You might try that: set the notification priority.cruciarius wrote:If I use iCal style for Adium as blue. I can't use iCal style of another color for a different application.

Re: Right-click to close?
One thing that really bothers me about Growl notifications is how long they take to fade out after clicking the X button. On many Windows apps, simply right-clicking anywhere on a notification will make it disappear instantly. Is there a way for Growl to do this? Or is there at least a way to make ...

Re: Growl and Applescript
I might be barking up the wrong tree, But can Growl execute an Applescript on receipt of a notification. Theoretically. There are a lot of limitations under the current system, though: You'd have to write a Cocoa-based display to run the script. It would have to be the same script every time (can't...

Re: redirect rsync output to growlnotify in shell script
I was wondering if there was a way to pipe the output of an rsync command I run from a shell script so that all the output from rsync appears in growl notifications? Yes there is. You use the pipe character: | So something like this: rsync $VERBOSE $EXCLUDE -a --delete -e "ssh -i $RKEY" $...

2) It would be better if Growl automatically scans the system for known applications... No it wouldn't. Such a scan would be very performance-intensive (even with Spotlight) and we don't need or want users complaining that Growl slowed down their system immediately after they installed it. One othe...

Re: Skype + Safari 4 + Growl = Crash!
Since I installed Safri 4 Beta I noticed something else with Mail.app which crashes, when I recieve new mail. So I deleted the GrowlMail.bundle and it seems to work again. [guessmode on] I think growl uses Webkit to render its messages, and it seems like it is not compatible to the new Webkit engin...
