It doesn't appear to stick does it? If you change font/colour and write message then it will write in that font/colour for that message and send that way but then next time you write to reply, etc, it doesn't work and writes in the default font/colour.

Nope, the only way that would work is if Adium were to integrate a feature where we could use custom emoticons in our messages but it doesn't appear that this will be happening anytime soon. I've been waiting for this feature over 2 yrs myself, lol.
